PRE PRINT: Distance to future climate analogues reveals refugia for agricultural adaptation
Published in Biorxiv, 2025
Mapping the distance to future analogues provides a measure of adaptation potential, and reveals steep slope agriculture, regions with small field sizes, and ancient centres of crop domestication have more proximal climate analogues.
Recommended citation: Geldbach Jones, Anna; Pironon, Samuel; Friis, Guillermo; Geldbach, David; Borrell, James S. (2025 preprint). "Distance to future climate analogues reveals refugia for agricultural adaptation." Biorixv.

teaching
Field Course Demonstrator
Field Course, University of Oxford, Department of Biology, 2023
I assissted with the field spectroscopy element of the EcoTech 2nd year biology undergraduate field course, 2021-2023. I led analysis sessions where students learned how to process and analyse leaf reflectance spectra. I supervised short research projects using reflectance spectroscopy.
Workshop Leader
Conference Workshop, British Ecological Annual Meeting, 2023
I helped to run a field spectroscopy and remote sensing workshop for international attendees of the British Ecological Society 2023 Annual Meeting. This workshop was coordinated by the NERC Field Spectroscopy Facility, and sponsored by Spectra Vista Corporation.
Practical Demonstrator
Undergraduate Practicals, University of Oxford, Department of Biology, 2024
I was a demonstrator for undergraduate biology practical classes, introducing students to lab skills such as light microscopy, pigment analysis, and redox reactions.
Field Spectroscopy Teaching Lead
Field course, University of Oxford, Department of Biology, 2024
I was promoted to lecturer for the field spectroscopy element of Oxford’s 2nd year EcoTech Biology Field Course. I taught principles of spectroscopy, remote sensing, and supervised short research projects.
